airtxt never looks at your screen

A dictation app hears everything you say. It should not also watch everything you do. airtxt never takes screenshots of your screen, and you can choose for your audio never to leave your iPhone.

Here is exactly what happens to your words, step by step, in plain language. The full legal detail is in our privacy policy.

No screenshots, ever

airtxt never takes screenshots and never reads other apps on your screen. It does not need to see your email to help you write one.

One optional setting, Smart cursor spacing, lets the airtxt keyboard look at the few characters right next to your cursor so it can add a space or a capital letter in the right place. It is off unless you turn it on, it works only in the keyboard’s memory on your phone, and that text is never saved or sent.

Your audio can stay on your iPhone

In On-device mode, your iPhone turns speech into text by itself. The audio never goes to airtxt or anyone else.

In Cloud mode, the audio goes to our speech provider, Deepgram, is turned into text, and is discarded. We also tell Deepgram not to keep it to improve their models. You switch between the two modes with one tap.

Cleanup is a separate step, and it is not used for training

After transcription, airtxt tidies the text: punctuation, filler words, false starts. That cleanup is a cloud step, even in On-device mode, and it sends text only, never audio, to Anthropic’s Claude API. Text sent through their API is not used to train their models, and we do not use your dictations to train AI models either.

On newer iPhones with Apple Intelligence, when you are offline, airtxt cleans up the text with the AI built into your iPhone instead, so nothing is sent at all. Prefer your own provider accounts? You can connect your own Deepgram, Anthropic or OpenAI key, and those requests go straight from your iPhone to that provider.

Your history stays with you

Your past dictations are kept on your iPhone, not on our servers. Meeting transcripts from the airtxt note-taker, which uses Recall.ai to join your call, are stored only if you save them, and you can delete them at any time. Deleting your account deletes your account data straight away.

Why we work this way

People dictate the things they would never type into a search box: a message to a client, a note about a patient’s schedule, a worry they want to get out of their head. A tool for that has to earn trust by doing less, not more. That is the line we hold, and you can check it in the app’s settings and in our policy.
